This years Met Gala had one major accessories trend, headwear. The 1930s started with heavy repercussions of The Great Depression which hit at the end of the 1920’s. The world was no longer in a state of prohibition, partying and glitzy flapper dresses, and women’s fashions shifted towards a conservative style. As a form as escapism from the great depression women turned to Hollywood, lapping up the glamorous style of their favourite Hollywood sirens such as Bette Davis, Willis Simpson and Marlene Deitrich.
